In 2017, the number of Spotify premium users jumped to 71 million, a 47.9% increase from the previous year, and by 2018, it reached 96 million. According to experts, the company’s expansion into podcasts and introduction of enhanced content offerings played an essential role in drawing more users to premium subscriptions. 

Spotify reached the 100 million premium user mark for the first time in Q1 2019, and by the end of that year, it had ballooned to 124 million. Remarkably, it took less than four years for Spotify to double its figure from Q1 2019, surpassing 200 million premium users by Q4 2022.
