How many users does Reddit have: 2018–2025

According to a recent analysis, Reddit is on track to reach 1.36 billion users by 2025, growing 12.2% from 2024’s 1.21 billion users. This annual rise marks a slight decline from the prior year’s growth rate of 18.7%, when Reddit’s user count was recorded at 1.21 billion. 

Since 2018, Reddit’s growth has been extraordinary. Starting at 331 million users, it surged to 430 million users in 2019, representing a 29.9% increase. The following year saw an even larger leap, with user numbers reaching 619 million in 2020—a 44% jump largely driven by heightened online activity on social media during the pandemic. By 2021, Reddit’s user base grew to 861 million, reflecting a 39.1% annual increase. 

Growth slowed to 6.6% in 2022, bringing the user count to 918 million. Reddit’s user growth rebounded in 2023, increasing by 11.2%, to 1.02 billion, and in doing so, crossing the 1 billion milestone for the first time.

Forecasts suggest Reddit will maintain its upward trajectory beyond 2025. In 2026, the platform’s user base is expected to reach 1.51 billion, marking a 10.8% increase from the previous year. Despite the rise, it is set to be the slowest growth rate in at least four years. 

From 2018 to 2026, Reddit’s user base is projected to grow at an average of 21.6% per annum. This impressive growth reflects the network’s ability to attract a broad demographic while continuing to expand its reach in both established and emerging markets.

The latest data highlights the US as the largest market for Reddit, with 128.55 million users in 2024. This accounts for a significant share of the platform’s global audience. In fact, more than half of desktop traffic to reddit.com originates from the US. 

The UK follows as the second-largest market, with 18.45 million users, though Reddit is the favorite social media platform for only 2% of UK social media users. Canada is third on the ranking of Reddit users by country, with 15.55 million users and boasts the highest penetration rate, reaching 44.8% of its population aged 13 and above. Germany takes the fourth spot with 10.5 million Reddit users, while India rounds out the top five with 9.2 million.
