In 2021, Instagram grew its US user base by 4.3%, bringing it to 123.4 million, before a rise of 4% in 2022 increased it to 128.3 million. This was followed by a slight acceleration in 2023, as the number of Instagram users in the US rose by 4.1%, to 133.5 million.
From 2019 to 2024, the number of Instagram users in the US grew by 27.7 million—an overall increase of 25% and an average annual growth rate of 4.6%.

The data suggests that the number of Instagram users in the US will continue to rise every year until at least 2026, albeit at a slower growth rate.
By experts’ estimates, annual growths of 3.5% are expected in 2025 and 2026, which will bring the number of Instagram users in the US to 143.3 million and 148.3 million, respectively. Should this rate of increase keep up, the number of people using Instagram in the US is likely to surpass 150 million in 2027.
